let's go to the park!

we had a very fun & eventful first week of spring break.
with the house on the market we are constantly getting kicked out of the house for
hours at a time so it can be shown to prospective buyers. this is terribly inconvenient.
what do you do with 3 little squirrels, that doesn't cost a fortune when you can't be home
and the weather doesn't accommodate playing outside?

you play outside anyway!
and if you're lucky like we were this past week, the sun might even sneak out a time or two
so you can take your jacket off and run even faster!

we also got to see tangled at the bagdad for $1 per ticket,
built stuff with marshmallows,
pulled a tooth,
camped out on the living room floor,
ate lunch at laughing planet,
baked tiny cornbread,
went treasure hunting at value village,
had birthday ice cream (the best in the whole world) with uncle jesse,
and went grocery shopping, twice.

these girls were born to play together, best-est friends and if you ask them they'll
tell you they're sisters. it's pretty wonderful.

best trick ever...

i've had a nasty chest cough for at least 2 weeks now.
we all have it.
it's the worst.
i hadn't slept in days because at even the hint of laying down my body would go into some sort of hysterical coughing/choking fit. i was getting desperate for rest and crankier by the minute... started to wonder if this cough was in fact pure evil and an exorcism was the only way out...?

the other night my friend tracie called, just to say hello and offer up a little sanity saving advice, "just rub a little vicks on your feet sarah" (she assured me it wasn't intended to improve the respiratory function of my toes, rather it should keep the cough at bay).

i was too delirious to question how this could possibly work, i just went for it... and i slept wake-less-ly all night.

i still have the cough, so it's magical powers are limited, but i've been sleeping so we'll all live to see another day.

*the photo above is a pretty new tea cup i thrifted and the tea that didn't soothe my throat whatsoever.

you may recognize these from one of my recent posts about treasures that make me consider robbing a bank so i can buy them all. i am smitten by the way she uses line and color to create the most captivating patterns and figures. she inspired me to give watercolors a try. nancy mungcal is the creative genius behind this enchanting artwork. and i learned straight away that she is as genuinely kind and thoughtful as she is brilliantly creative. she sent me a gift unlike anything i have ever received. an original painting, a birthday gift, made just for me. it couldn't possibly suit me better. she has yarn for hair!!! i am in love with this painting and cannot wait to find the perfect frame to house it in and the perfect space on my wall to display it. a thousand thank you's nancy, you made my birthday brighter.

stop motion is where it's at

Cosmo Speedway "Lights On" from Cosmo Speedway on Vimeo.

the first video is one i made with a friend, just goofing around on a thursday afternoon. that's me drawing, him taking the photos and the music is part of one of his songs, you can hear more of his music here.

the second video is far more spectacular, one of my most favorite things of the moment. it was made by shane reed, front man of cosmo speedway, in his bedroom over the course of 6 months and is comprised of roughly 3,600 still images. he wins.

we love us some finger knitting!

first things first... last Tuesday we jumped over to our local yarn store Twisted for knit night! We had a great time and met some very cool new friends. We will be back (unfortunately not tonight) very soon. After that we zipped over for a beer with a few of the knit night knitters. We had fun chatting a bit more and the subject of if we have taught our girls to knit came up. We told them that our girls are very interested in knitting but aren't able to handle the needles quite yet. Wil (thanks Wil) suggested that we try finger knitting with them. So yesterday Sarah sat down with her oldest Delaney and gave it a go. Well let me tell you!!!! She loved it... learned very fast and is doing a fabulous job. So I guess Zephyr just added our first employee... welcome to the family business miss Lou!

5 reasons you should come hang out with us on Sept. 21st

1. Chances are you or someone you know has breasts and likes them and wishes for them to stay healthy.
2. You get to spend the day in our truly fantastic city, meeting new people, and sparking new friendships.
3. You'll get a little exercise, which will make you happy & healthy & awesome!
4. We promise we'll be fun & cool like the cartoon versions of us, and not creepy... and we won't bite, most likely...
5. Karma, just think of all the good karma! Plus, imagine how guilty you'll feel on Sept. 22nd if you didn't come join us... how could you live with yourself...

Come on portland-ers, don't let us down! There's only 10 days left to officially join our team, don't make us beg... it's not pretty!

p.s. we WILL be wearing shirts, not holding balls of yarn in front of our boobs... in case that was making you nervous.

i'm leaving, on a jet plane...

...and if i had it my way, i wouldn't be back again!

I'll soon be off to visit rachel and this trip is going to be a little different from our past visits... let's catch you up, shall we?!?
As most of you know, there are two of us girls, the rachel one of us lives in oregon and the sarah one of us (that's me) lives in utah. for more than 5 years this distance has been making us sad. we fly out to visit each-other a lot and we've been cooking up crazy plans to get back in the same city, or at least the same state, since the day i moved away. well crazy cooked up plans are no longer needed, the day has come... it's true, after years of not being particularly patient (because neither of us are particularly patient sort of gals) i am going home.

this coming weekend i wont only be visiting my dearest friend, i'll be visiting my new (but rather old) house!!! can you stand it, because we can't... i think we're both moments away from our heads bursting right off our shoulders!!!
look out portland, the zephyr girls will be back in the same city by christmas! we'll be just minutes away from each other's front doors, it doesn't get much better than this folks!!!
oh wait, yes it does - our kids will get to play together now and we'll never miss another birthday party and we wont have to ship christmas presents and we can watch grey's anatomy and friends re-runs together and have tea together (iced for me hot for rach) and we can SHOP and WE CAN KNIT TOGETHER, WE'LL FINALLY BE ABLE TO KNIT TOGETHER AGAIN, and boy will we ever knit - we're gonna knit until our tushies have taken the shape of the sofa cushions!!!

so off i go an a jet plane for one of the last trips i'll have to take from here to there. we'll get the keys to our new house and start to make plans for all the furniture that will be arriving when we move for good in december. if i didn't have to go back i wouldn't, but we've got some loose ends to tie-up and a little more patience to muster-up, then in 9 weeks and 4 days it will all be worth it and until then I'll be visiting my house and my friend as often as i can!!!
