... i have something blocking.

it has been far too long since i've said that!

things don't always come together like you plan,

you might let them sit on a shelf for a while,

and perhaps they take much longer to complete than intended,

and you have to try more than once or even twice to get it right,

{and that might be because you were way too into a show while you were knitting}

this pattern was published in the winter 2008 issue of twist collective. perhaps you saw it there, perhaps you're seeing it now for the very first time. mary jane is now available at zephyr style, YAY!!

we're all a little exhausted...

there has been an awful lot of non-zephyr related stuff going on in zephyr land lately. we got busy, the kiddos got sick, the stress started building... and we just pooped out.

But we're back and everyone's well and we want to give a BIG shout out to all of the fabulous people that pulled through at the last minute to join us for the race for the cure! We are ridiculously excited!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

Just in case there is anyone left that still wants to join here's what you can do:

Since the online team registration was shutoff on August 29th, all additional participants will need to register as individuals. Anyone who missed the deadline can still run or walk with a team, they simply need to register as an individual participant and pickup their t-shirt, bib, and pin at Will Call at either the Health Expo or on Race day. So, if you register and want to hang out with us, just let us know and we'll add your name to our team roster!

a little surprised...

and maybe disappointed too.

we thought it was a no-brain-er. breast cancer is a huge issue that effects everyone in one way or another. everyone's heard of the Susan G. Komen foundation, they've been making amazing things happen for years. we live in portland, and portland is an amazing place full of amazing people. we planned ahead, we tried to make it fun and exciting... we thought we'd get an overwhelming response, more team members and donations than we'd know what to do with. sadly this is not the case.

I've participated in the race for the cure before and it was one of the most amazing, memorable days of my life. it restored my faith in humanity. seeing thousands upon thousands of people come together for one cause is enough to bring a grown man to tears, I saw it happen. hearing other peoples stories, sharing yours, being a part of someone else's journey... I genuinely can't think of anything I would rather do on a sunday morning. I'll be walking for my Grandma Renee and my Cousin Denise, both are breast cancer survivors, and for everyone else who's been touched directly or indirectly by breast cancer or may one day be.

If you think you have time or just plain changed your mind and want to join us you only have 2 days left before it's too late (see the countdown in our sidebar).

4. We promise we'll be fun & cool like the cartoon versions of us, and not creepy... and we won't bite, most likely...
5. Karma, just think of all the good karma! Plus, imagine how guilty you'll feel on Sept. 22nd if you didn't come join us... how could you live with yourself...

Errata - 28thirty

Where the pattern lists how many stitches you should have on your needles after the raglan increases each set of numbers is 6 stitches short. These numbers reflect the 6 stitch overlap for the button band.

The correct number of stitches after the raglan increase are as follows:
212, 244, 276, 308, 336, 368, 400

Happy Thanksgiving!! We are so thankful for all of you, and we hope that you and yours have a fabulous day!

i'm leaving, on a jet plane...

...and if i had it my way, i wouldn't be back again!

I'll soon be off to visit rachel and this trip is going to be a little different from our past visits... let's catch you up, shall we?!?
As most of you know, there are two of us girls, the rachel one of us lives in oregon and the sarah one of us (that's me) lives in utah. for more than 5 years this distance has been making us sad. we fly out to visit each-other a lot and we've been cooking up crazy plans to get back in the same city, or at least the same state, since the day i moved away. well crazy cooked up plans are no longer needed, the day has come... it's true, after years of not being particularly patient (because neither of us are particularly patient sort of gals) i am going home.

this coming weekend i wont only be visiting my dearest friend, i'll be visiting my new (but rather old) house!!! can you stand it, because we can't... i think we're both moments away from our heads bursting right off our shoulders!!!
look out portland, the zephyr girls will be back in the same city by christmas! we'll be just minutes away from each other's front doors, it doesn't get much better than this folks!!!
oh wait, yes it does - our kids will get to play together now and we'll never miss another birthday party and we wont have to ship christmas presents and we can watch grey's anatomy and friends re-runs together and have tea together (iced for me hot for rach) and we can SHOP and WE CAN KNIT TOGETHER, WE'LL FINALLY BE ABLE TO KNIT TOGETHER AGAIN, and boy will we ever knit - we're gonna knit until our tushies have taken the shape of the sofa cushions!!!

so off i go an a jet plane for one of the last trips i'll have to take from here to there. we'll get the keys to our new house and start to make plans for all the furniture that will be arriving when we move for good in december. if i didn't have to go back i wouldn't, but we've got some loose ends to tie-up and a little more patience to muster-up, then in 9 weeks and 4 days it will all be worth it and until then I'll be visiting my house and my friend as often as i can!!!

Juliet Ammendment!

There were 2 very minor errors in the second half of this pattern, nothing that will affect sizing or numbers, it might just throw you off a little:
Both Row B (of the lace set up section) and Row 5 (of the lace section) should start with a K3, slm... and then continue with row as is written. Easy Peasy!

To help those of you who have already purchased the pattern, and would like an updated copy – we have adjusted our downloads server to allow you all to download a second copy of the pattern... this copy will be the corrected one. For those of you who have yet to buy the pattern, the correct one is now available.
