5 year olds are the coolest.

this morning, smelly comes running into my room straight from waking in her bed, as if she has news to share that will change the world forever, leaps onto my bed and proclaims, "mom, i can make myself a 4, watch!" and she did this...

and i took a photo, because how often does something that spectacular happen before you're even completely awake in the morning?!! it did change the world a little bit, at least for me.

a few hours later, after some eating and some playing and some fingernail polishing... she came running into my room again, with the same urgency as before and said, "mom, check this out!..."

"... these fingernails are ladybugs and bumble bees..."

"... these fingernails are polka-dotted..."

"... and my toes are BIRTHDAY CAKES!!"

i want to be like her when i grow up.
